What is the process for establishing an estate plan?
The first step in the process is to contact us and schedule an initial phone call. Following that phone call, we will have a meeting to better understand your wishes, your family dynamics, and the specific parts of your property and assets that require planning. At the end of that meeting, we will advise you about the appropriate vehicles (a will, trust, and related documents) to accomplish your goals, and answer any questions you may have. We strive to have draft plans to you within a week of this consultation, after which we can meet again by phone or in person to review the plans. When you are satisfied with the plan we have established, we will schedule a signing meeting at which you will execute your will and related documents. This is, of course, a simplified description of the estate planning process, and we may require more or fewer meetings depending on your unique circumstances.
